Todd Burton
Todd Burton has been an active Wisconsin artist for 20 years. He works in a variety of metalsmithing and fabrication
disciplines that produce seamless works of art. Undertones of the "Art Nouveau" and "Deco" periods flow into Burton's
creative, decorative arts.

Relying on his distinctive abilities to sculpt the ornamentation of plant life, Burton has facilitated a greater understanding
of the architectural process. The fabrication of steel, stainless steel, copper, and bronze is a physical undertaking. Many
steps and techniques are applied; hammer and tool marks--"maker's marks"--become part of the sculpture

After the fabrication process, most sculptures are painstakingly burnished, sanded, and polished to prepare for final
finishes and patinas. Burton utilizes both cold- and torch-applied chemical patinas to further enhance textures and create
depth within the sculpture. Finally, several coats of the best resin lacquers and waxes are applied to ensure decades of
indoor protection from oxidation.
